WHAT ARE WE GOING TO SAY TO REFERENDUM?

There was famous American film "Horses Ridden Too Hard Shot" with Jane Fonda in the main role. In this film the dealers from one of the U.S. state arranged the dance show with a big money prize during the depression of the 1930s. Dozens of unemployed dancers wanted to take part at the competition to earn money. The presenter says that the show is going to be beautiful and amazing. "This is what we will say to depression!" the presenter screams and makes the indecent gesture.
I very often remember this scene while hearing our leaders describing achievements and successes of the republic. Sometimes I seem to believe them, because their artistic art perfected during 15 years, is rather persuasive. And now we have been told that our life will get better after the referendum. This word has some secret meaning, reminding of the well-known Soviet slogan - "Ahead to Communism!"
People living in the USSR hated this system, despising its attributes and its representatives in form of the party and Komsomol members. It is easy to guess what people of independent Azerbaijan feel, while listening to the current agitators now. Have any conclusions been made of the past? In the early 1990s the former party members were ashamed to go into the streets. They disclosed the totalitarian regime in media, claiming that it forced them to lie. Did they have any other chance to help people, than to join the Communist party?
At the dawn of independence politicians could not lie to publicity, because media and public opinion could tear them to pieces. After 1993 the authorities concluded that they need to "tear to pieces" the media, opposition and deceive publicity. And here they used lessons of history and ancient Roman slogan "Give Us Bread and Circuses!" Two thousand years later this appeared to be the most efficient method and only this drug can distract people from struggle for their rights and future.

When somebody is irritated with dominance of stupid shows like "Machine Show" on the television, please be informed that this is a purpose-oriented policy. And if you try to protest at it, it means that you are not infected by it. If you are indifferent or waiting for another show to see, it means that you and the whole society are in trouble.
Today people are not ashamed to tell lies in front of hundreds of people and on television. This has become the way of life, you just need to take the first negative pill and then you are getting used to that. "Everybody do that" - this is the simplest explanation of any meanness. The main hero of the film "Return of Baron Munchausen" said: "Smile gentlemen, the mean acts are committed with this expression on the face."
What do we need to do with this referendum? Here I remember another phrase: "If violence is inevitable, just try to relax and take pleasure in it." But I do not recommend that to you. Monarchy can be established, but the most powerful monarchs ended with pogroms and demolition of mausoleums. They have made no conclusions. So, let"s say to the referendum what the U.S. dance show presenter said to the depression.
