WHY WAS THE FAMILY PISSED OFF?

The Novruz holiday has calmed down the scandal around Araz Agalarov. But it looks like head of the Crocus International will not get off with only a scare.
The interview of Emin Agalarov"s father given to Kseniya Sobchak with the Russian magazine GQ has infuriated the Azerbaijani government or relatives of Emin"s wife. The response to the interview on the www.1news.az web site sounds more than threatening. It is rather a verdict, than expression of dissatisfaction.
The journalist criticizes Sobchak for her immorality and lack of discipline and at the same time attacks Agalarov. These are the lines from the verdict: "The owner of Crocus City spoke a lot about who loves whom and why," "the man respecting himself will never give an interview in the boudoir", "what is the successful businessman guided by and why did he appear to be so short-sighted," "our Azerbaijani fabulist told everyone what is going on in the family and how smart he is."
Then there comes execution: "Where does this desire to assert oneself in the eyes of publicity come from?" Is it necessary to speak a lot before one learns to keep silence? Who the owner of Crocus City thinks he is, when he discusses family values? The businessman with persistence, which is characteristic of not smart enough people..." and so on and so forth and everything is about the closest relative of Azerbaijani President!
The surprised readers (one can imagine Agalarov"s condition) have been looking for answer to the question - what for? - for several days.
As it follows from the above-mentioned story, Agalarov has been criticized for "disclosing some family secrets" and "incorrect interpretation" of the issue who fell in love with whom, how and where did it happen. Agalarov relaxed and frankly told that his son got married for love. He openly described his son"s relationships with his chosen one and mentioned that the girl fell in love too. He has also described details of acquaintance of young people and some family secrets, as rest in Switzerland, his son"s unwillingness to sit at the table next to the family and his recommendation to the son - say hello from me (!)
As a businessman, Agalarov was well aware of what he was talking about, but he did not take into account who he is talking about and that Moscow"s morals differ from those Baku"s ones.
But it seems like Araz Agalarov"s mistakes were taken in Baku as violation of rules of the game, for which one should be punished. The story reads that it means nothing, if you are a successful businessman or politician - "the cobbler should stock to his last" - then comes the terrible phrase: "Agalarov should have known that it is easy to gain confidence, but it hard to hold it. If one has got a carte blanche, he or she can fly up, but it is better not to fall down..."
Then follows something like a lecture or a prayer for the deceased: the family is a sacred thing, but Agalarov appeared to be very boastful and talkative. He spoke about family life of his son, which does not suit the oriental man.
One can only sympathize with Araz Agalarov in this situation. His interview was not successful, though he was rather sincere. I don"t think he deserved theses accusations and insults. Any Azerbaijani media would have been punished for criticizing this man. But it seems that the bridges have been burnt and a lot is at stake now. Emin Agalarov has not visited Baku for several months, though hardly anybody will benefit from the worst scenario.
Having criticized Agalarov, the media drew attention of the society to that interview. Possibly, a calm conversation between men would have been more effective and scandal would have been avoided.
One can judge about successes and perspective of a politician or a businessman by state of their business. We will watch closely Agalarov"s business in Azerbaijan in the near future. If his projects are terminated and objects are closed, then conclusion will be clear. Right now only God knows what is going to be next.
