Gurgen Alaverdyan wants to stay in Azerbaijan
Baku / 26.08.20 / Turan: Armenian officer Gurgen Aleverdyan, who was captured on August 23 in the Goranboy direction, pleaded guilty to the preparation of sabotage on the territory of Azerbaijan.
In a 5-minute video address recorded during the investigation, he called himself the commander of a company, a military unit stationed in the occupied Kalbajar region of Azerbaijan, describes the details of the operation entrusted to him.
According to him, the preparation lasted about 20 days. “Taking advantage of the heavy fog, the group moved to the Goranboy region, but was noticed by the Azerbaijani military.
After the command "Stop!" and warning light, we ran back. The rest of the group managed to escape, but I messed up the road in the dark and was captured, ”Alaverdyan says.
After his capture, he did not face any negative attitudes or pressure.
He is satisfied with the conditions of detention and food.
Alaverdyan concludes his appeal with an unexpected recognition that he wants to stay in Azerbaijan and serve this country. He expresses the explanation for this as follows: "The Armed Forces of Armenia have no chances to defeat the Azerbaijani army."
