A monument to Muslim Magomayev was unveiled in Kiev
Kiev / 19.07.18 / Turan: On July 18, in the center of Kiev solemn opening of a square and a monument to the great Azerbaijani singer Muslim Magomayev took place. The event was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the birth of the world famous opera and variety singer, composer, and people's artist.
The square is located at the intersection of the avenue of V. Chernovol and the street Sichovykh Streltsov. At the ceremony, hundreds of Kyivans came, mostly people of the older generation.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Culture of Ukraine Yevgeny Nishchuk, the Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Abulfas Garaev, the head of the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora Fuad Muradov, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Ukraine Azer Khudiyev.
"I am convinced that this square will be an invaluable gift for Kyivans and visitors of the city - millions of fans of the talent of the legendary singer and composer. Kievans will come here and enjoy the rest, "- said Deputy Mayor of Kyiv Alexander Spasibko.
According to local media, the project of creating a square and a monument to Magomayev did not provoke a protest among nationally-minded political forces and groups opposing any reminders of the Soviet past. However, in Ukraine Muslim Magomayev was always loved, worshiped his talent. -0-

Ahmet Güneştekin answered questions from Turan Information Agency a few days after the opening of his solo exhibition, Lost Alphabet, held in the 8,000-square-meter indoor halls of the Feshane Cultural Center, managed by the Istanbul Municipality. The exhibition, inaugurated by Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, will remain open until July 20.
