Literary prize is awarded by the Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan
Young writers in Azerbaijan have been awarded a Literature Prize by the Russian ambassador. This is the first event of its kind in the former soviet republic and was held at the Russian Embassy in Baku.
Referring to the winners, a poet Yulia Subbotina and prose writer Lachin Samadzade, Ambassador Vladimir Dorokhin, a lover and connoisseur of literature, said that Russia's policy in all countries with a Russian-speaking population is aimed at enhancing and supporting the cultural space. The diplomat explained that, fortunately, in Azerbaijan, this space is alive, and they should not worry about it.
Dorokhin said he reads all the publications concerning literature and art, including the magazine "Literary Azerbaijan."
The award is profoundly personal, containing subjective preferences, and should not be perceived as an art or the political assessment of creativity, he said.
National writer Chingiz Abdullayev also congratulated the winners and expressed the hope that it is a solid advance for those whose literary style " is a classic and literary hooliganism" in the best sense of the word. --17D—

In a world increasingly marred by the effects of climate change, art has emerged as an unexpected, yet powerful, platform for raising awareness and sparking conversations on environmental responsibility. One such endeavor is the exhibition "A Different Kind of Climate," currently on display at Kapellhaus with support from the Goethe-Institut. The timing of this exhibition is no coincidence, aligning with the upcoming COP29, the UN Climate Change Conference to be held in Baku from November 11 to 22. The exhibition seeks to engage audiences on pressing ecological issues, blending local and international perspectives.

Amid the urban hustle and the cacophony of modern life, it is easy to forget that nature too has a voice. But artist Elnara Nasirli, with her latest exhibition "Whisper of the Forest - The Magic of Sound," seeks to remind us of nature's pulse — and its message. Now showing at the Gazelli Art House, Nasirli’s multidisciplinary showcase brings the audience closer to the heart of the forest, where every rustle, every whisper, seems to echo with life.
