Cargo Handling at Baku Trade Port Increased by 47%
In 2016 cargo handling increased by 47% in the Baku International Sea Trade Port in comparison with 2015, reaching 4.5 million tons, according to the Port’s statement.
87% of the cargo handling accounted for international transit.
The largest growth was recorded in handling of large vehicles (TIR). Thus, during the reporting period, the number of such vehicles using the Baku port services increased three times, amounting to 23,415.
13,791 cars followed the route Baku-Aktau-Baku, and 9,850 - the route Baku-Turkmenbashi-Baku.
During this period, transshipment of containers equivalent TEU increased by 28.5% and amounted to 17,100 TEU.
Handling of oil and oil products amounted to 1 million 575 thousand tons (an increase of 87.5%).
The handling of wagons in the new ferry terminal Alat increased by 17.4% to 36,896. This included 11,109 cars on the route Baku-Aktau-Baku and 25,787 on the route Baku-Turkmenbashi-Baku.
The amount of cargo handled in the main cargo terminal in Baku increased by 8.2% and amounted to 418,100 tons. ------ 71D
