Eight Agricultural Enterprises Opened for Privatization
By the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers on April 17 (№111), 8 companies of the Ministry of Agriculture (mainly silkworm cocoon plants) are open for privatization.
The State Committee for Property Affairs is tasked to privatize them in compliance with the requirements of the State Privatization Program II.
It should be noted that prior to this the Sheki silk factory was privatized by investment contest. Numerous points drying silkworm cocoons were sold at cash auctions. The sericulture sector in Azerbaijan is experiencing a deep recession.
Note that on the same document four self-supporting enterprises of the Ministry of Agriculture were eliminated. These are the Central Testing Laboratory, Republican Scientific and Production Association Azerdamazlyg, a project office and a repair and construction office.
The Cabinet united state agricultural enterprises on a territorial basis and on the basis of 34 enterprises created 24 state-owned enterprises. In 2013, not promulgated in the official sources of the Cabinet of Ministers, two agricultural companies of Agriculture were leased to third parties and on the basis of one company a private farm was created.
Another decree of the Cabinet of Ministers №112 approved the list of enterprises and organizations of the Ministry of Agriculture not included in its structure. Of these, 112 are funded from the state budget and 28 are self-supporting. ----08D
