Imports of Motor Vehicles Decreased 36.9%
The trend of reduction in imports of motor vehicles continued in January. Compared with the same month of 2014, the number of imported cars fell by 36.9%, the report by the State Customs Committee says.
In this case, due to the I European Games to be held in June, the state's share in the supply of buses and cars is growing. Only for the needs of the police more than 700 cars have been purchased in Europe.
In January, 4,090 vehicles were delivered to Azerbaijan. It is 2,387 units less than in January 2014 and 3,039 units less than in January 2013. It is expected that this year the purchase of vehicles abroad will decrease more rapidly as the excise rates on them have increased this year. Experts also note the reduction of operations in the secondary market vehicles.
Note that in January the import of 3,870 cars was declared. This is 34.7% (2 055) less than in January last year.
Also purchased abroad were buses - 66 (+51), trucks - 146 (-366) and motor vehicles of special purpose - 8 (-17).
In 2014 Azerbaijan imported 63,368 vehicles, which is 39.3% (41,017) less than in 2013.---08D

Silk production in Azerbaijan decreased by 32.9% year-on-year in the first eight months of 2024, reaching 239.4 tons, according to data released by the State Statistics Committee. The decline was attributed to a reduction in the number of silkworm seeds distributed to farmers, reflecting a longer-term trend in the sector's contraction, noted agricultural expert Vahid Maharramov.
