LUKoil to return to Iran"s energy sector as soon as sanctions lifted
Russian LUKoil oil company is ready to return to Iran’s energy sector as soon as the US lifts the sanctions, PressTV channel quoted LUKoil President Vagit Alekperov as saying on Wednesday.
LUKoil President said the company is ready to continue working at the Iranian oil bloc Anaran.
“We are able to independently develop Anaran project when economic sanctions are lifted from Iran,” Alekperov said.
“LUKoil has been working on the Anaran bloc since 2003, but it was forced to leave the project when the economic sanctions against Iran were introduced.
Iran already said that it would like the western oil companies to resume development of old giant fields and start development of new oil and gas fields as soon as the sanctions are lifted.
Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namad Zangane said earlier that Iran would like to return some western energy companies, including French Total, British Shell, Italian Eni and Norwegian Statoil, to its energy sector. At the end of last year Italian Eni oil and gas company announced its plans to expand its operations in Iran as soon as the sanctions are lifted.—0—
