Moldova diversifies gas flows
Romania and European Union will fund Moldova’s joining the Romanian gas transportation network, Liviu Dragnya, Romanian Vice Premier, Minister of Regional Development, told journalists last week.
“We have signed the contract with the Moldovan Vice Premier, Minister of Economy Valerii Laer to provide 5.2 million Euro worth grant, which will cover costs for construction of the Moldovan section of the Ungen-Yassy gas pipeline together with the European funds,” Dragnya said. He added that total cost of construction of 43-km-long pipeline will be 26.5 million Euro. The construction will be carried out by three Romanian companies.
Moldovan experts said that the pipeline will not solve the problem of Moldova’s access to the gas suppliers alternative to Gasprom.
Moldova’s annual demand in natural gas totals 1.3 billion cub.m., which it imports from Russia. Romania receives the missing volume from Russia as well, reported http://www.biztass.ru.--0--
