Three years needed to increase Iranian gas deliveries to Turkey
Iranian Deputy Oil Minister for International Affairs Ali Majedi said in his interview to IRNA news agency that about 3-4 years will be needed to increase Iranian gas deliveries to Turkey and if Iran’s share at the Turkish energy market goes up, Turkey could hope for reduction of Iranian gas price.
Ali Majedi reminded that Turkey has made a complaint to the international arbitrage concerning high prices for Iranian gas and the complaint is currently under consideration. The sides have already expressed their opinion on this issue and the arbitrage will make a decision in the coming months. Deputy Minister of Oil said the Turkish officials claim that Iranian gas price is higher, than the Russian one, but one should take into consideration the fact that content of the gas contracts with any country cannot be disclosed.
Ali Majedi said that Turkey has been said that the issues of gas prices and the volume of deliveries should be solved simultaneously. If Iran’s share at the Turkish energy market goes up, then Iranian gas price could be comparable with the Russian gas price.
Speaking about the talks with Turkish Premier about increase in the Iranian gas deliveries and gas price, Ali Majedi said that the volume of deliveries could be increased a little even now, but we will need time for significant increase, because we will have to build a new pipeline, reported Iran.ru.—0—
