Transactions through POS Terminals in June Fell by 27.1%
The number of outstanding active cards of Azerbaijani banks increased in June 2012 to 19,000 pieces, reaching 4,826,000 units. The annual growth was at 9.9%. Thus, for every 1,000 people (under age) in the country there is an average of 804.3 active payment cards.
In January-June, cardholders carried 27,110,000 operations for a total of 4,072 million manat. With the growth of the total number of payments by 11.5% and their volume by 23.3% compared to the same period in 2011, the number of credit card transactions increased by 35.8% to 1.776 million, while their turnover - 32.6% to 472 million manat.
The main part of card transactions in the period of the year still fell on ATMs - 23,402,000 transactions in the amount of 3,565 million manat. Of these, 98.5% for operations connected with the withdrawal of cash. For the first time in 11 months in June, the number of transactions through POS terminals decreased compared to the previous month by 27.1%. It is noteworthy that the June number of the equipment dropped by 884 units.
Service of the cards is produced through 2,227 ATMs and 37,194 POS-terminals. For the first year, the number of ATMs increased by 12.2%, and the number of POS terminals grew by 3.4 times.
As of July 1, 2012, 1,235 ATMs and 33,119 POS-terminals were established in Baku. In service outlets there are 34,740 POS-terminals, including in Baku - 32,114 POS-terminals. - 15V-

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
