Aliyev expressed condolences to Putin due to death of peacekeepers
Baku/21.09.23/Turan: President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan personally apologized and expressed profound condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin for the loss of Russian peacekeeping troops in Karabakh on September 20, as reported by the Kremlin's press service.
The Kremlin's press service disclosed that "at the initiative of the Azerbaijani side, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev."
During this conversation, President Aliyev took the initiative to personally apologize and express his deep condolences for the tragic loss of Russian peacekeeping troops in Karabakh.
Putin, in turn, underscored the significance of upholding the rights and ensuring the safety of the Armenian population residing in Nagorno-Karabakh. The message from the Kremlin further emphasized that "Vladimir Putin stressed the importance of guaranteeing the rights and security of the Armenian population in Karabakh."
The leaders also discussed immediate measures to further stabilize the situation and resolve humanitarian issues in the Karabakh region. They both emphasized the importance of implementing the agreements that had been brokered with the assistance of Russian peacekeepers, which led to the cessation of hostilities in Karabakh.
