Ilham Aliyev Names Condition for Normalization of Relations with Armenia
Baku / 20.11.20 / Turan: "If sensible forces come to power in Armenia, then we are ready to establish normal relations with them." President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated this today in a televised address to the people on the occasion of the liberation of the Aghdam region.
“Today there is an internal crisis in Armenia. And this is natural. Because a military defeat, and such a shameful defeat in particular, of course, can lead to unrest in any country," Aliyev said.
However, "if sensible forces come to power in Armenia after the end of this crisis, we are ready to establish normal relations with these forces." “But we cannot have any ties with the executioners, those who shed the blood of the Azerbaijani people. Let everyone know this!" Azerbaijan said.
At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that Azerbaijan made efforts and implemented projects that gave impetus to regional cooperation. “All our projects including energy, transport and humanitarian projects deepen cooperation. We didn’t take a single wrong step; for example, we didn’t take a single step that could create some kind of problem for our neighbor. Therefore, we have normal, good relations with the neighboring countries. I can say that they can be an example for many others,” Aliyev said.
“What are the relations between Armenia and its neighbors?” he continued.
It occupied the lands of Azerbaijan, it makes territorial claims to Turkey, and now it expresses discontent with Russia. “I know why they were unable to deliver weapons through Iran - because Iran is a friendly and brotherly country to us. Because, given our request, they have closed their airspace, because they didn’t want it to be delivered and to kill the Azerbaijanis. The same claim is made against Georgia, because during the war, Georgia also closed its airspace and did not allow the transport of weapons by land. And it did not want the brutal enemy to kill our civilians. They are making a claim against Russia that it did not help them. In his interview, the President of Russia provided quite clear and absolutely accurate information and expressed his position. Azerbaijan fought on its territory recognized by international law. Therefore, there can be no question of allowing the intervention of any allied relations. But they reprimand everyone and they are unhappy with everyone. How can they live with such a mindset?" said the head of state. -0-
