Iran Ready to Substitute Its "Brotherly Shoulder" to Azerbaijan
Iran is ready to fill the shortage of oil that emerged in Azerbaijan in connection with the reduction in oil production on the part of British Petroleum.
This was stated by the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast at a press conference on Tuesday, in response to the question if Iran will help Azerbaijan after BP's decrease in oil extraction.
"We have repeatedly demonstrated that we help neighbors in times of trouble. We repeat that big Western companies play a destructive role, destabilizing the situation, or exploit the natural resources in their own interests," he said.
Note that the U.S. and the European Union have imposed sanctions on Iran and purchases of oil and gas from that country is prohibited. The cause for the sanctions is Iran's development of nuclear weapons, despite the decision of the UN Security Council.
In this respect, the words by Mehmanparast sound unserious and demagoguery, as Iranian oil is not necessary for Azerbaijan. It is about the reduction in oil production of oil, of which most is exported. -02D-
