Joint Declaration of the Eastern Partnership and the European Union
Vilnius /29.11.13/Turan : Today in Vilnius, the countries of "Eastern Partnership" signed a joint declaration with representatives of the EU. The summit participants welcomed its results and agreements. As the upcoming goals and objectives for the coming years in the declaration defined as follows:
further steps towards strengthening democracy, respect for human rights and the rule of law, support the continuation of political and economic reforms and the development of trade relations.
The declaration made by each country recorded Successes by every country and agreements signed with the EU have been noted in the declaration. Special attention was paid to the initiating by Georgia and Moldova the Association Agreement with the European Union.
The document welcomed the development of the Southern Energy Corridor and construction of the gas pipeline TAP and the project AGRİ, and strategic role of Azerbaijan in the energy security of Europe was noted.
In conclusion, the declaration emphasized the call for a rapid and peaceful settlement of the conflicts in the region, creating measures of stability and trust. Parties emphasize the need speedy and peaceful resolution of conflicts on the basis of norms and principles of international law, welcome meeting between the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Vienna and there made arrangements to continue the negotiating process. -02D-

The gas pipeline from Russia to Iran will pass through Azerbaijan, its route has been agreed upon. Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev told reporters, TASS reports.

Journalist Farid Ismayilov, who had been under police supervision in connection with the Toplum TV case, was detained on January 17 and brought to the Khatai District Court, his colleagues reported.

On January 17, the Khatai District Court of Baku rejected the requests for house arrest for journalists Aynur Elgünesh and Natig Djavadly, employees of Meydan TV, their lawyers, Elchin Sadigov and Zibeyda Sadigova reported to Turan news agency. According to the lawyers, there are no legal or procedural grounds for keeping the journalists in detention. The journalists themselves stated that the criminal case against them had been fabricated to punish them for their professional activities. The defense intends to appeal the court's refusal to transfer the journalists to house arrest.
