Baku / 15.09.18 / Turan: A military parade dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the liberation of Baku by the Caucasian Islamic Army and units of the Azerbaijan People's Republic (APR) from the armed formations of the Central Caspian Dictatorship, Bolsheviks and Armenian Dashnaks took place in the central square Azadlig in Baku.

The parade, which was observed by the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey, Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, were attended by the military of both countries.

Aliyev highly praised the role of the Caucasian Army, which 100 years ago liberated Baku from occupation. He noted that today Azerbaijan has a strong and modern army capable of liberating the occupied territories. Aliyev stressed that Nagorno-Karabakh is a historical Azerbaijani territory and Baku will restore the territorial integrity of the country.

"The main condition necessary to restore the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is the presence of a strong army, and today the strength of the Azerbaijani army is increasing," the head of state said.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan noted the role of Nuri Pasha (Killighil) and the Caucasian Army in freeing Baku from occupation, noting that Turkey could not be indifferent to the sufferings of Azerbaijani brothers.

The Turkish leader read the poem by the Azerbaijani poet Bakhtiyar Bahabzadeh, who named Azerbaijan and Turkey as the two sons of one mother.

Erdogan stressed that it was not by chance that Turkey was the first country to recognize the independence of Azerbaijan.

He stressed that the Armenian-Turkish border will remain closed until the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. "Expectations of opening our borders to those who are guilty of occupying 20% of the territory of our brothers and do not allow more than 1 million of our brothers to return to their homes is a waste of time," Erdogan said.

The parade hosted a review of modern weapons and equipment of the Azerbaijani army. In addition, the military of the two countries dressed in the form of 100 years ago marched on horseback and on foot. In conclusion, flights of Azerbaijani and Turkish military aircraft took place.

On September 15, 1918, the Caucasian Islamic (Turkish) Army headed by Nuri Pasha (Killighil) and the forming army of the Azerbaijan People's Republic (APR) liberated Baku from the troops of the Socialist-Menshevik government of the Central Caspian Dictatorship, Bolsheviks and the Armenian Dashnak party.
