Nasimi region court left NIDA activist under arrest
Yesterday Baku’s Nasimi district court decline petition of Zaur Gurbanly, activist of the NIDA youth movement, to change his penalty into home arrest.
Lawyer Halid Bagirov told Turan that there are no reasons to keep Gurbanly under arrest. There is no investigation and his accusation of illegal storage of explosives has nor proofs.
Gurbanly has asthma and thalassemia and his keeping under arrest deteriorates his health condition.
Despite the requests of the lawyer and relatives, the doctors are not allowed to visit the young man.
Gurbanly is among seven NIDA activists arrested in March-April 2013.
Amnesty International recognized all young people “prisoners of conscience.”—0—
