Sargsyan considers impossible negotiations without security guarantees
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan in an interview with the agency "Bloomberg" has made it clear that he considers meaningless are any negotiations with Azerbaijan without guarantees of non-resumption of hostilities. According to him, the war could start at any moment. Russia's mediation in this matter "may not prevent a wide-scale war involving hundreds of tanks and 30,000 artillery shells," he said.
Under such a situation, Armenian has "no reason" to resume the negotiations with Azerbaijan without any security guarantees, he said.
Referring to the recent visit of Russian Foreign Minister, Sargsyan said that Lavrov "did not bring new proposals", as he realizes that it makes no sense to talk about the negotiations after a 4-day war.
Speaking about the possibility of deploying Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh, Sargsyan said that currently it is impossible. "If there is no negotiation how peacemakers can appear in Karabakh?" he said. -02D-
