The United States allocates additional humanitarian aid to Ukraine for $ 205 million
Washington/17.06.23/Turan:The United States is providing additional humanitarian assistance in the amount of $205 million to help the people of Ukraine.
According to the State Department, this contribution reflects the country's commitment to support those who have suffered from the unjustified, unfair and brutal conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Through international and non-governmental partners, US humanitarian aid plays a crucial role in providing Ukrainians with the necessary resources, including food, clean drinking water, protection services, education, livelihood support, legal aid, affordable housing, healthcare and much more.
These funds also allow victims of conflict to keep in touch with separated family members and facilitate family reunification whenever possible. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, more than six million refugees have left Ukraine, while more than five million have become internally displaced within the country. In addition, millions of Ukrainians have suffered from Russian attacks on Ukrainian territory. Taking into account the fiscal year 2023, the total amount of US humanitarian aid provided to Ukraine exceeds $ 605 million. This funding further strengthens the efforts of humanitarian organizations to overcome the crisis and complements the generosity of countries hosting and assisting refugees.
Since February 2022, the United States has already provided humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian people in the amount of more than $ 2.1 billion both inside Ukraine and in the surrounding region.
"We strongly call for an immediate end to Russia's aggressive war and urge Russia to guarantee unhindered access for humanitarian aid providers in Ukraine, as well as safe passage for those seeking refuge in safer areas. The American response contributes to strengthening Ukraine's overall security, restoring its economy, ensuring energy security and overcoming the humanitarian crisis caused by Russia's war. We appreciate the contribution of other donors to these anti-crisis efforts and call on additional donors to generously support the essential humanitarian needs of Ukraine and the region," the State Department said in a statement.--0--
