Trial on Faraj Kerimli Completed
The Baku Court of Grave Crimes completed the judicial investigation in the case of the deputy chairman of the party Musavat Faraj Kerimli accused of drug trafficking.
The day before he gave a testimony in court, saying the political motives of his arrest.
He noted that from 18 years old he is a member of Musavat, and his father Ragif Kerimli was the Chairman of the Lachin district organization of the party for a long time.
In Musavat F. Kerimli was one of those responsible for work in social networks, the site administrator on musavat.org.az and the Facebook page musavat.com.
"In social networks and the Internet, we actively disseminated information about the corruption of the regime, informed of the repression against the youth and political activists," said F. Kerimli.
He also informed about the physical and moral pressure on him in the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of MIA. He was threatened with arrest of his father and the murder of his mother in hospital.
He was asked about the upcoming congress of Musavat and its leaders Isa Gambar and Arif Hajili.
In conclusion F. Kerimli said that the drugs were "planted" and the true reason for his arrest was the political activity in Musavat and social networks.
After his speech the judge Shakar Mammadova announced the completion of the trial.
The next meeting is scheduled for April 29. The prosecutor will speak there.
The brothers Siraj and Faraj Kerimli were arrested on 17 and 23 July 2014
On August 18, 2014 Amnesty International announced Faraj and Siraj Kerimli "prisoners of conscience".
On March 12 the court sentenced Siraj Kerimli to 6 years in prison. -06D-
