U.S. Ambassador Visits Ganja
U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar visited Ganja on September 21-22, 2013. The ambassador met with Ganja Executive Committee Chairman Elmar Valiyev, representatives from the Ganja Constituency Election Commission, and local nongovernmental organizations to discuss the pre-election environment in Azerbaijan. He also met with local U.S. Peace Corps volunteers to learn about their work with Azerbaijani partners in the region.
Ambassador Morningstar and his spouse, Ms. Faith Morningstar, also attended a women’s leadership conference and toured a newly built settlement for internally displaced persons.
U.S. Mission to Azerbaijan Public Affairs Officer Stephen Guice accompanied the ambassador to Ganja. Mr. Guice also visited Tovuz and Sheki where he met with local media outlets and discussed exchange and cultural program opportunities and the American Centers program, reads US Embassy`s press release. -0-
