A new case against a member of "Muslim unity"?
Baku / 15.01.19 / Turan: The deputy chairman of the Muslim Unity Movement Abbas Huseynov, contained in the Gobustan prison, was transferred to Baku pre-trial detention center-1.
Another member of the movement is Jabbar Jabbarov, transferred to an unknown place, according to their family members.
The mother of Abbas Rahim Huseynov stated that she was not informed about the reasons for her son"s transfer to the detention center. Shelearned about it on the third day, when she went to the detention center for a meeting.
However, she was told that her son was in quarantine, without explaining the reason for the transfer from Gobustan prison to the pre-trial detention center.
The mother fears that her son is being tortured. She appealed to the Red Cross to visit her son.
According to lawyers, the convict is transferred to the pre-trial detention center if his case is pending before the court, or when a new lawsuit is filed against him.
In the penitentiary service, Turan did not comment on the information about the transfer of Abbas Huseynov to the detention center.
Human rights activist Ogtay Gyulalyev believes that in the Gobustan prison theactivists of the Muslim Unity were subjected tosevere torture: Thale Bagirzade, Abbas Huseynov and Jabbar Jabbarov. Because of this, Bagirzade has injured himself. Jabbarov was repeatedly beaten, and Abbas Huseynov was crucified, as in the Middle Ages, Gyulalyev writes on his Facebook page.
Thale Bagirzade, Abbas Huseynov and Jabbar Jabbarzade were arrested during a special operation in Nardaran in November 2015, and were sentenced to long prison terms on charges of trying to enforce religious order in the country and seizing power. -06D--

The closure of Azerbaijan's land borders was discussed during the parliamentary session on November 25. While the government’s decision cites the coronavirus pandemic as the main reason—despite the World Health Organization declaring its end last year—Zahid Oruj, Chair of the Human Rights Committee in the Milli Majlis, pointed to other factors. He stated, "Opening the borders could result in an influx of hundreds of thousands of non-Azerbaijani refugees due to the Russia-Ukraine war. Additionally, in Iran, many are prepared to cross into Azerbaijan to safeguard their lives and assets amid military strikes. Such waves of refugees could lead to humanitarian, social, and cultural clashes that may threaten political stability."
