Approximately 20-30 people arrested in the case of "oligarhgate"

Approximately 20-30 people have been arrested in the case of "oligarhgate" for non-payment  loans to the International Bank of Azerbaijan. All of them were charged under  the Article 178.3 ( fraid with a large-size damage) , said Kamandar Nasibov in an  interview with Turan news agency and radio "Voice of America"; he protects the interests of the two arrested - CEO Azmeco Nizami Piriyev and IBA representative in Dubai Adil Huseynov. Regarding tortures of the detainees, a lawyer said  that today  he met with Nizami Piriyev, and he did not complain.

At the same time, Piriyev denies the charges. "The term of pying the credit has not expired. In any case, it is not a criminal, but a civil case. Over the years of practice I have never seen that all borrowers without exception are accused of fraud. Even if there is a delay in the return of funds, for it can be a fine or other form of claims. After that, the borrower may apply to the court.

In addition, the lender always gives a secured loan, which can be confiscated and sold ," said the lawyer.

Currently, protection insists that  there is not a crime in  Piriyev’s actions. He did not cheat and do not abuze trust, there is  not a fact of  fraud. Being asked about the case of another prisoner, Adil Huseynov's lawyer pointed out that Huseynov is  nowhere involved.

International Bank has financed some infrastructure projects in Dubai, and Huseynov was charged to follow transferrence  of funds, so that they were not used for other purposes. He did not get  money,  did not spend anything, and only  controlled spending, said the lawyer.

One of the facilities in Dubai is a textile factory, which has been operating for three years. Its opening was attended by the head of Dubai and the head of  the International Bank of Azerbaijan. You can easily see from the website of this company, that this is a modern and successful company.

A similar successful event - a metallurgical plant, which has just been opened and began producing valves. However, three months ago, at the direction of the new leadership of IBA, operation of the plant was stopped, and workers were fired. Curently the  plant is idle and incurs losses. First the cost was estimated at $ 150 million, but now it has lost a significant part of the cost. This plant was also built by the International Bank of Azerbaijan with the participation of local firms and companies.

Asked whether the investigation involved a former head of International Bank Jahangir Hajiyev, the lawyer said he did not know. In general, there were not  investigations against his clients, including confrontations. -03В-
