Azerbaijan has no new strain of omicron and swine flu - infectious disease - infectious diseases specialist
Baku/09.01.23/Turan: There are no confirmed cases of the spread of a new strain of omicron coronavirus in Azerbaijan. This is stated in an interview with the infectious diseases specialist of the Ministry of Health Tayar Eyvazov, published on the department's website.
In general, according to him, the disease is a strain of "Omicron XBB.1.5", which has already been widespread in nearly 30 countries, in most cases passes easily.
This notwithstanding, the infectious disease specialist recommends that people who are not immune to coronavirus or have weak immunity, as well as those with severe chronic diseases, and the elderly, be careful.
Note that people from risk groups should reduce contacts, get vaccinated and revaccinated.
Also, Eyvazov added that there were not confirmed cases of swine flu (H1N1) infection.
He pointed out that recent complaints of chills, headaches, weakness, sore throat, cough, runny nose are also characteristic of other respiratory diseases that are common in the winter months.
In order to avoid diseases, the infectious disease specialist urges the population to follow the "coronavirus behavior" formed in the last 3 years - limiting contacts, wearing masks indoors, in public transport, observing hand hygiene rules, frequent ventilation of premises, proper nutrition and observing healthy lifestyle habits.
Vaccination against influenza of persons from risk groups is also recommended. -16B06-
