BSU Professor Geyushev Fired from University for His Facebook Activity
Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Altai Geyushev has been fired from Baku State University (BSU) for active participation in social networks on the Internet.
The BSU heads demanded that he write a letter of resignation on his own. And he was kicked out of the office in front of the audience in the classroom. Geyushev wrote this on his page on Facebook.
According to the scientist, given a choice between his citizenship activity and the job, he chose the former option.
Geyushev worked at the Department of History of the Turkic and Caucasian Peoples and specialized in Turkish history and the history of Islam in the Caucasus.
He is considered one of the most authoritative experts in the field of the history of Islam in Azerbaijan.

Last night, three earthquakes occurred along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border with magnitudes of 4.8, 3.0, and 3.8, according to the Republican Center for Seismological Service of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported no information about any destruction or casualties as a result of the earthquakes.
