Cassation of the spouses Yunus postponed again
Consideration of the cassation of the spouses Leyla and Arif Yunus scheduled for 26 October in the Supreme Court was postponed to 2 November, told their lawyer Elchin Sadigov. According to the lawyer, the absence of the spouses Yunus in the country, who are on medical treatment abroad, cannot be a hindrance to the hearing of the appeal, which they personally signed.
Leyla Yunus and Arif were arrested in the summer of 2014. On August 13, 2015 the Baku Serious Crimes Court sentenced them to 8.5 and 7 years in prison, respectively. "Amnesty International" recognized them "prisoners of conscience". On December 9, 2015 they were released conditionally on probation for five years.
