Centre for Monitoring Political Prisoners requires respect for the rights of political prisoners I.Bagirzade
Centre for Monitoring Political Prisoners expressed concern about violations of the rights of the arrested leader of the "Muslim unity" Thale Bagirzade. The statement by the Center reads that Bagirzade is detained in the facility of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Interior Ministry. However, under the law, the accused cannot be held in police custody for more than 24 hours after the court decision on his arrest. "There is every reason to believe that Thale Bagirzade is tortured, he is not allowed to meet with a lawyer and parents, which is contrary to the Articles of the European Convention on Human Rights prohibiting torture.
Probably there are traces of torture on Bagirzadeh’s body, and jail will not accept his in such a state, because the act should made. That is why he is not transferred to the detention center of the Prison Service. "We appeal through the mass media to the Prosecutor General to investigate the facts of torture of Thale Bagirzade, and his transfer to the detention center," said the head of the Center Elshan Hasanov.
Bagirzade was arrested during a special operation in Nardaran on November 26. He is accused of committing a number of grave crimes, including the attempt to seize power and overthrow the constitutional order. Bagirzade rejected all accusations.-06B--
