Court Rejects Claim of Head of Masalli Executive Power against Journalist
The Masalli District Court on November 7 refused to accept a lawsuit from the chief executive of the Masalli region Rafil Huseynov against the Chief Editor of the website Canubnews.com Miralam Hashimov. The journalist's lawyer Javad Javadov told Turan.
On November 7 at the preparatory meeting the judge Anar Almamedov refused to consider the claim in the absence of grounds for the criminal prosecution of the journalist.
The head of the executive power demanded attracting Hashimov to criminal liability for defamation. The reason for the lawsuit was the publication of articles and videos demonstrating the dissatisfaction of local residents with the fact that a local ATM of Bank Capital did not have enough money for pensions.
Earlier, the Chief Executive filed a lawsuit against Hashimov and the court sentenced him to a fine of 500 manat in civil procedure. The journalist appealed to the Supreme Court. -06B-
