Demolition of Housing in Jeyranbatan
The security of SOCAR in the last days have begun the demolition of housing along the route Baku-Sumgait (near the village Jeyranbatan), which is 20 km north of Baku.
In particular, they have demolished about 40 unfinished houses and fences in the village.
At the same time, homeowners are told that the said territory supposedly runs over the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline, which contradicts the requirements of security. Therefore, about 200 houses are to be demolished, the villagers reported at today's press conference.
However, the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline lies a few kilometers from the specified location. At the same time, there are local oil pipelines in the area.
"If the demolition continues, 200 families will protest in front of the presidential administration in order to protect their property. Previously, courts ruled to prohibit the demolition of the housing," said the human rights defender Alekper Mamedov.
In turn, the residents said that in the immediate vicinity of the area there are the villas of the President of SOCAR, the Chief of the Presidential Security Service Beylar Eyubov, and the youth center Absheron.
"Why not demolish them, if there is a threat to the pipeline?" said Mamedov. The residents believe that the officials just want to seize their land and sell it. If it is not so, the authorities are obliged to pay the appropriate compensation, noted the human rights activist. -03C-
