Functions of Production and Distribution of Electricity Disconnected
President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree, according to which the powers of distribution of electricity throughout the country were transferred to JSC Azerishyg. The document calls Bakielektrikshebeke (Baku Electricity Grid) JSC this way.
JSC Azerishyg will purchase electricity and distribute it among consumers. In the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic this function will be performed by the State Energy Agency of NAR.
The Cabinet of Ministers was commissioned in two months to transfer the related property and equipment from Azerenergy to Azerishyg. During this period the draft statute and structure of Azerishyg has to be prepared.
Balababa Rzayev was appointed Chairman of the Board of JSC Azerishyg. He previously headed the Baku Electricity Grid.
Note that before this, JSC Azerenergy was engaged in the production and distribution and sale of electricity throughout the country, except for the city of Baku. --08D-
