Baku / 07.07.17 / Turan: Youth activist Giyas Ibrahimov, who is serving a prison sentence in jail N 2, reported his mother Shura Amiraslanov, who intends to hold a protest action in front of the president's administration. Giyas Ibrahimov and Bayram Mammadov were arrested last May for writing political slogans on the monument to Heydar Aliyev. Young people, however, were accused of illicit drug trafficking on a large scale and sentenced to 10 years. The international human rights organization Amnesty International has recognized them as "prisoners of conscience". The other day Ibrahimov was transferred to jail N 2, and was immediately tortured, his mother said. "Giyas was beaten by the chief and deputy head of the jail. Therefore, I will make a protests in front of the presidential administration, "she said.
Giyas was able to forward a letter from the jail, saying that his life was under threat. So, on the very first day of the transfer to the jail, Giyas was detained in a punishment cell for 15 days, accusing him of "obstructing verification", "insincere answers to questions". Then he was accused of being rude about the deputy head of the jail Shakir Ganiev, who beat him and began to insult him.
After that, the deputy chief put handcuffs on Giyas and dragged him to the head of Fikret Gafarov and there the beatings continued. As a result, Giyas's ear was damaged. "You talk a lot and you need to grow wiser, you demand a law, here is my law for you," quotes Giyas Ibragimov the words of the head of jail, who threatened to send Ibrahimov to the closed Gobustan prison.
The respond of the Penitentiary Service to the inquiry of Turan correspondent reads that the statements of Giyas Ibrahimov were groundless, there was no torture. The conditions of his detention are then same as of the rest prisoners. -06D--
