Human rights activist Safarov said about the threat to the life of Bahtiyar Hajiyev in pre-trial detention center-1
Baku/19.12.22/Turan: The life and health of public activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev in Baku in the pre-trial detention center-1 is in danger. Rufat Safarov, executive director of the human rights organization "Protection Line", stated this live on his facebook account.
According to him, on December 17, at five in the morning, Hajiyev was picked up and taken to a cold punishment cell, where he was kept for 8 hours. All this time he was subjected to bullying. "He asked for water - they brought water, showed it, but didn't give him," Safarov said.
After the punishment cell, Hajiyev was taken to the head of the pre-trial detention center, who demanded to re-write a statement on the hunger strike and remove the names of officials from the text, including the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Vilayat Eyvazov, because of whose actions Hajiyev is on a hunger strike. Hajiyev categorically refused.
After that, he was brought to the medical unit and taken to a room and his cellmates were brought there. The latter stated that they were beaten because of Hajiyev's hunger strike. "They demanded that Bakhtiyar stop the hunger strike, but he said that they should not make claims against anyone who is fighting for their rights," Safarov said. In conclusion, he noted that Hajiyev's stay in pre-trial detention center-1 of the Penitentiary Service is dangerous for his life and health.
Hajiyev demands to transfer him to the SSS pre-trial detention center, since the head of the Penitentiary Service comes from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Safarov also said that the leadership of the country, the heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice and the Penitentiary Service would be responsible for possible serious consequences for the life and health of Hajiyev.
Safarov also spoke about the threats he received, but he will fight for the rights and security of Hajiyev, even if he is arrested. ---06B---
