Baku / 08.07.18 / Turan: The NIDA activist Ilkin Rustamzadeh appealed from Prison No. 13 to the public and called for efforts to protect his rights. His phone message from jail is published on the NIDA movement's Facebook page.
"Hello, friends. I have been imprisoned for six years. But for the first time I feel powerless. For the first time I need your strong support. I'm already choking and I cannot breathe. As a matter of fact, every day they kill me alive. I face the most severe restrictions, which are not used for others. On every small issue, they find fault with me, pulling me into provocation ... I already feel that I do not have enough strength," Rustamzadeh said.
He noted that they clasped his hands in handcuffs and cut his hair a month ago.
"Then several officers appeared and said that an error had occurred and nothing will happen to me anymore. Tranquility lasted a month. A month later, the nagging began again. I'm forced to write an explanatory note about not checking out, although I came out for checks. Nevertheless, I was reprimanded," Rustamzadeh said.
He was not allowed to call a girlfriend in Sweden. "I dialed the number, and immediately the officers came up. They asked what the code was. I said Sweden. They said, "No, this is a dangerous country - you cannot call there," Rustamzadeh noted.
Two months ago, the activist underwent a surgical operation - he was removed a cyst from the spine. However, he was quickly returned from the medical unit to the place of serving the sentence.
"I'm under intense pressure. I do not know what will happen further," Rustamzadeh continued.
In this regard, the movement NIDA urged users of social networks and citizens to support Rustamzadeh, disseminate information about him, put his photo in profiles, provide material and moral support to his family, and send out numerous appeals to international organizations.
Ilkin Rustamzadeh was detained on May 17, 2013 on charges of hooliganism - as the investigation assessed the dance flash mob Harlem Shake on the seaside boulevard of Baku and the placement of the video on YouTube.
On May 6, 2014, the court deprived him of his liberty for eight years. The appeal was rejected on December 16, 2014. Seven people arrested together with him have long been released. -06D--
