Intellectuals Forum Strengthens the Organizational Structure and Expands Activity
In recent months, the Forum of Intellectuals received a lot of suggestions from the representatives of the public, aimed at expanding and strengthening its operations. Council of the founders of the forum, examined and discussed these various proposals, and decided to set up the Advisory Board of the Forum of Intellectuals, which aims to become a working body of the forum, planning its activities and implementing its decisions. This is stated in the message of the Forum, received by the Turan agency.
The Advisory Council, along with the founders of the Forum include writer Chingiz Huseynov, composer Javanshir Guliyev, poet Musa Yaqub, Chairman of the Movement of Intellectuals Eldaniz Guliyev, media heads Elchin Shikhli, Arif Aliyev, Mehman Aliyev, Gulu Maharramli, community leaders, Ramiz Abutalibov, Gultekin Hajiyeva, Arzu Abdullayeva, Zafar Guliyev, Erkin Gadirli.
The formation process of the Advisory Council will be completed shortly.
The first meeting of the Advisory Council of Intellectuals Forum took place on June 25, 2012, discussing and approving the plan of the Forum of Intellectuals in the coming months. It was decided to hold the next Forum of Intellectuals on problems of corruption and its impact on all spheres of public life.
The Advisory Council decided to establish a Public Commission, chaired by Rustam Ibragimbekov, to create a pantheon of ADR founders from public donations.
The Advisory Council also discussed the issue of political prisoners in Azerbaijan.
Positively assessing the recent amnesty and the release of social activists, however, it was noted that more participants of "the April meetings", a group of journalists and editors from several newspapers, participants in Guba events, as well as protesting against restrictions on wearing the hijab, still remain in jails.
The Forum of Intellectuals calls on authorities to release all prisoners whose arrest has been associated with their social activities and political views. -02D-

Last night, three earthquakes occurred along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border with magnitudes of 4.8, 3.0, and 3.8, according to the Republican Center for Seismological Service of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.
