Leila Yunus Returned to Cell

Yesterday the human rights activist Leila Yunus after a six-day stay in the infirmary of the Baku detention facility was transferred back to an ordinary cell. The lawyer Elchin Gambarov told Turan Yunus said she was "in good health". However, there was no improvement in the state of Yunus's health in the period of stay in the infirmary. "She needs effective and long-term care," said the lawyer.

Recall that Yunus was transferred to the medical unit after the survey of her health by a German doctor, Professor Christian Witt. She is suffering from hepatitis C, diabetes and other diseases.
Her husband Arif Yunus suffers hypertension and for the period of his arrest and trial he several times suffered a hypertensive crisis. Information about his condition after the verdict is not available.

* The spouses Yunus were arrested a year ago. On August 13 the court sentenced them to 8.5 and 7 years in prison on charges of economic crimes. They rejected the accusations and said the political motives of the criminal case. The United States, the United Kingdom, the Council of Europe, the EU, the European Parliament and many international non-governmental organizations have condemned the verdict on the spouses Yunus. -06D-
