Russia’s aspiration to join the Turkic Council, rising prices for construction materials, feasibility of coronavirus pandemic end in Azerbaijan are themes of today media.
Site “Bizimyolinfo.az” writes about Russia’s intention to join the Turkic Council. Russian Foreign Minster Sergey Lavrov noted Russia’s preparedness to cooperate closely with Turkic-speaking countries. In his words, Russia is inhabited with Turkic-speaking peoples, so there are no problems in his country’s joining the Turkic Council. The author believes that Lavrov’s message is meant to say that why not we?. Some political experts are inclined to insist that this message is none other than admission of the Turkic factor; others opine that this is Russia’s aspiration to control and provoke split in the Turkic world. To author’s thinking, Russia’s statement is insincere to pursue its own goals.
Site “Müsavat.com” says that rising prices for construction materials started since the end of the last year. Cement prices rose first, then it went to roof coating, wod boards, etc. As a result, a bag of cement rose from 6,5 manats to 7,5 manats. One cubic meter of wood board rose from 350 manats to 420 manats, 1 sq. m of plywood from 12 to 18 manats. The article explains the situation as being due to construction operations on liberated areas. To prevent impetuously growing prices, appropriate government entities should take control over process of artificial rise in prices.
Site “Qafqazinfo.az” cites an opinion of Akif Gurbanov, chairman of TƏBİB Scientific Committee concerning possible completion of pandemic in Azerbaijan. For this to happen, it is necessary that 70-75% of country’s population should get an immunity required. He reminded that at present the number of vaccinated is 1.7 million. i. e. 20-25% of total population. This makes it possible to acknowledge total immunity and, hence, the end of pandemic.

The closure of Azerbaijan's land borders was discussed during the parliamentary session on November 25. While the government’s decision cites the coronavirus pandemic as the main reason—despite the World Health Organization declaring its end last year—Zahid Oruj, Chair of the Human Rights Committee in the Milli Majlis, pointed to other factors. He stated, "Opening the borders could result in an influx of hundreds of thousands of non-Azerbaijani refugees due to the Russia-Ukraine war. Additionally, in Iran, many are prepared to cross into Azerbaijan to safeguard their lives and assets amid military strikes. Such waves of refugees could lead to humanitarian, social, and cultural clashes that may threaten political stability."
