Orkhan Bakhyshli's Mother Appeals to Ramil Usubov
Baku / 03.09.18 / Turan: "Orkhan has nothing to do with drugs, he does not even smoke, he is a student and a believer, and he performs prayers. He was detained because of his social and political activities." These words are from the appeal of the mother of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) activist Orkhan Bakhyshly, who is under arrest, Kamala Rahimli, to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ramil Usubov.
Kamala Rahimli says that in September 2017 her husband Rafik Bakhyshov was summoned to the head of the police department of the Jalilabad region.
"There he was told that if Orkhan did not cease his activity, he would be arrested, and then the public was notified of this. A police officer in Sheki also visited my mother and told her about it. Six months later Orkhan was slandered and arrested evidently not in connection with drugs, but due to his activities. This was all prepared then," Kamala Rahimli says in her appeal.
Mrs. Rahimli refers to the statements of the Azerbaijani President on the existence of freedom of speech and the press in the country.
"No one can be held accountable for voiced words or political views," Mrs. Rahimli writes. She believes those who played a role in the arrest of her son should be held accountable.
At the end of her appeal, Kamala Rahimli notices her son's innocence and believes that he must be released from the courtroom.
Orkhan Bakhyshly was detained on May 6, with 6 grams of heroin found. On May 3, on the International Freedom of Speech Defense Day, he spoke at Elmar Huseynov"s grave. In his speech, Bakhyshly accused the authorities of the murder of Elmar Huseynov. -0-
