Assessment of the economic reforms in the country, the results of arbitrariness of officials, mistrust of banks, and the ratio of the dollar and the manat are the leading topics of today's press.
The newspaper Azerbaijan writes about the ongoing economic reforms in the country, serving the development of liberalization. Many countries, writes the author, cannot overcome the crisis in the financial and banking system, and socio-economic policy of Azerbaijan is yielding positive results.
The website Azadliq.info writes about the struggle of internally displaced persons for their rights and about the presidential decree in connection with the privileges and benefits for this category of persons. This regards the cancellation of the decision on the establishment of meters for electricity and gas.
Active opposition by IDPs forced the authorities to reconsider their decision as that caused such a mass protest.
Echo published an article about the collapse of the banking system. Everyone understands that the strengthening of the manat to the US dollar is of short-term nature, and they tend to withdraw their deposits. The volume of deposits in commercial banks continues to decline.
The massive decline in deposits of physical persons was registered in February 2015, i.e. after the first devaluation. This trend is observed to this day. On January 1, 2017 the volume of deposits amounted to 7 billion 448 million manat. This amount in the AZN terms was reduced by more than 2 billion and deposits in USD terms decreased by more than 1 billion.
The website Musavat.com cites experts who believe the strengthening of the manat is a temporary process. Analyzing the last foreign exchange auction, experts predict the inevitability of new devaluation.
