The Azerbaijan-Russian relations, the depreciation of the manat, problems with the transition to digital broadcasting, and the lack of reform are the leading topics of today's press.
The newspaper Azerbaijan has published an article about the history of Russian-Azerbaijani relations. Since the arrival of Heydar Aliyev the spoiled relations began to improve. This was reflected on the question of the status of the Caspian Sea and Russia began to act at the same position with Azerbaijan.
In all this, the author sees the invaluable role of the ex-president Heydar Aliyev and his personal relationship with Putin. Between Russia and Azerbaijan more than 170 documents have been signed on 50 different areas of the economy. In Azerbaijan, there are more than 600 enterprises with Russian capital. 400 of them work in the form of joint ventures.
The azadliq.info website discusses the financial situation of the country. In October, the Central Bank currency reserves decreased by 127.2 million dollars or 3% to $ 4 billion 5.5 million dollars.
The last time such a low level took place in January 2008 - 3 billion 928.5 million dollars.
The expert Nemat Aliyev believes the reserves will continue to decline, if the country does not arrange a real reform.
Reserves of the Central Bank are also reduced by its participation in the foreign exchange auctions with the Oil Fund, the expert believes. This will lead to the fact that the Central Bank will be forced to end its participation in the foreign exchange auctions.
Echo has published an article about problems with the transition to digital broadcasting, arising from 1 November. The government should provide free decoders to 100,000 citizens of the country, as this category of citizens cannot afford to buy these devices.
Novoye Vremya writes about the foreign exchange market problems. The author talks about the financial crisis and looks for a way out of it.
