STP and HRHF discussed the situation in the field of civil society
The Civil Society Platform (STP) members held a meeting with representatives of the Human Rights Houses Foundation (HRHF) headed by its director Maria Dakhla in the evening of March 31.
The guests were informed about the reasons for creating the STP, the activities, goals and objectives of the association for the current period. Representatives of the STP gave their assessment on the socio-political and socio-economic situation in Azerbaijan, the state of civil society institutions, human rights and freedoms. They exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
The delegation of HRHF arrived in Baku to familiarize with the situation in the field of civil society and human rights and held a number of meetings with officials, including the head of the Council on NGO Support under the President of Azerbaijan, Azay Guliyev. Maria Dahle noted that HRHF is studying the conditions and the possibility of resuming its activities in Azerbaijan, including the possibility of restoring the office in Baku. Formerly official statements were made about the invitation of international donors to work in Azerbaijan. Legislative restrictions on their activities were also slightly weakened. —0-
