The debate about the language of the press and language problems
The Conference on the problems with the use of the national language was held Tuesday at the International Press Centre. The event was organized by the: Institute of Linguistics of the Academy of Sciences, the Press Council, and National Television and Radio. The conference was dedicated to the second anniversary of the adoption of the state program for the development of linguistics and language protection in the period of globalization.
Chairman of the Press Council, Aflatun Amashov, said that from 2001 to 2013 in Azerbaijan was made 20 official documents in the field of language. The conference will focus on the use of language in the age of globalization, the rules of language and the problems in this area.
Head of the Institute of Linguistics, Tofiq Hajiyev, believes that the protection of language has become an important issue in the era of globalization, which has not only positive, but also negative trends. For example, minority languages can be easily pushed out.
In view of the development of technology, a special computer language is being created, and there are problems also. Hajiyev reported on the preparation of the dialectological atlas of the Azerbaijani language.

Editor in chief of "Azerbaijan" newspaper, Bakhtiyar Sadigov, said that in Soviet times, Baku was largely a Russian-speaking city. He accused the country's citizens of the frequent use of Russian, Turkish and English languages to the detriment of the national.
MP Sabir Rustamkhanli also expressed concern about the tendency of the use a language of foreign words. The MP Agil Abbas proposed to punish those who violate the rules of the language.
The event did not result in the adoption of recommendations or specific proposals; it was agreed to discuss this subject more often. -05В-
