Turkish Teachers Expelled from University of Caucasus

The University of Caucasus fired 50 Turkish teachers. This decision was taken after the university was transferred under the authority of the Higher Oil School at SOCAR.

The reason for the dismissal was a demand of the Turkish authorities to fight against the Azerbaijani "supporters" of Fethullah Gulen, whom Ankara accuses of organizing a coup attempt and creating of a terrorist organization.

As Haberturk reports, 50 Turkish teachers were dismissed by order of the Rector of the Higher Oil School Elmar Gasimov under the pretext of the expiry of their contracts. According to Gasimov, until the end of the year they will leave Azerbaijan.

The University of Caucasus founded in 1993 is considered one of the most advanced universities of Azerbaijan. It used the Turkish education system. But apparently, the former system of education will be destroyed and the university will become an ordinary Azerbaijani university. -16D-
