Witnesses testified in favor of Mammadov Ibrahim
The Narimanov District Court on February 1, chaired by Turgay Huseynov held a hearing on the case of the adviser to the head of the Popular Front Party Mammad Ibrahim. Two witnesses of the prosecution however, testified in favor of the opposition activist.
Ibrahim was arrested on 30 September last year, based on the complaint of the former member of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Mikail Guliyev and charged with disorderly conduct (221.1). Later this article was reclassified to a more serious article - 221.2.2, in which Ibrahim faces up to 5 years in prison.
The lawyer Yalcin Imanov told Turan. On February 1 two prosecution witnesses Vugar Abbasov and Elchin Shukurov gave their testimony.
They were eyewitnesses to the incident on September 29 last year.
The witnesses said that Ibrahim just asked about the reasons for Guliyev’s insults in his last Facebook status.
However Guliyev said he did it right and "rushed” at Ibrahim. The witnesses failed to separate Ibrahim and Guliyev. At the same time Guliyev had a small part of his shirt torn. After some time Guliyev returned to the site of the incident at the tea house in the Narimanov district in a police car with a completely torn shirt.
The witnesses also said that during the investigation they were pressured to testify about the presence at the scene of two "victims" attracted by the police, the lawyer said. However, the witnesses did not succumb to the pressure.
Imanov applied to subpoena additional witnesses, namely the investigator of the Narimanov District Police Office Mubariz Suleymanzadeh and the head of the investigation department of the same ministry.
However, the judge Turgay Huseynov left the petition at this stage of the trial not considered and scheduled the next hearing for February 12.
Recall that Mikail Guliyev involved in the case left the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party together with the Razi Nurullayev group last summer. -06B—
