Russian border guards poachers in Azerbaijan?
On 27 July at 02:30 Russian border guards fired at a flock of Caucasian tour, killing several animals in the Ilisu reserve of Azerbaijan. One border guard was on the lookout at the triangulation mark (metal pyramid at the top of the mountain) on the Russian-Azerbaijani border, and four mounted soldiers entered the Azerbaijani territory and fired on wildlife. Then they quickly descended upon the slain tours, cut a few large pieces of meat, and rode on the Russian side, according to theblogger Kamal Ali in the border village of Ilisu.
Citing local residents, he said that such cases of illegal crossing to the Azerbaijani side and poaching on the territory of Ilisu Reserve are common. The Russian border guards kill more than they can carry away.
Azerbaijani frontier post is located in the village of Ilisu, away from the border line, which allows the Russians to feel themselves masters even in Azerbaijani reserve. Turan failed to get comments on this fact in the border service of Azerbaijan.
* Ilisu State Nature Reserve was established in 1987 in Gakh region of Azerbaijan bordering with the territory of Dagestan. The reserve covers 17,381 hectares. -02В-

In a bit of historic irony, powerful oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili has managed to inspire rare unity across Georgia’s cacophonous political scene twice in his life. His money and influence forged the broad-based consolidation of opposition forces that brought him to power in 2012, and now, 12 years and three electoral cycles later, a similar pattern of opposition convergence could send him packing.
