Expeditions from the Institute of Archaeology of the National Academy of Sciences discover interesting findings at the ancient settlement of Agsu, 140 km from Baku, reads the NGO "Miras."
On June 22, the expedition, led by Dr. Gafar Cabiev, found 37 gold coins dating from 1781-1800 years at one site where excavations are going on. They are Dutch ducats, with a medieval knight and an inscription in Latin: CONCORDIA.RES.PAR.CRES.HOL.
On June 25, the find handed over to Azerbaijan’s History Museum. Experts believe that the find is additional evidence of important medieval trade route passages through Azerbaijan. -05D-
