BP-Azerbaijan company to lay off 422 employees and not to give raise to oilmen in 2015
BP-Azerbaijan, the number one company in Azerbaijan in fields of oil and natural gas production and transportation, is going to lay off 422 its employees till the end of quarter 1, 2015, reliable sources from BP-Azerbaijan told Turan.
255 employees of the company have been already laid off, of whom 105 ones are Azerbaijani citizens and 150 ones are foreign specialists.
The same source said that BP-Azerbaijan will lay off its employees in the offices as well as about 100 specialists working directly in field of production and transportation.
When asked does the company need to lay off the specialists, BP-Azerbaijan answered that their number is too high for the oil price of $50.00-60.00per barrel.
In 2015 BP-Azerbaijan plans to hire 100 new employees to expand Shah Deniz-2 project. However, the plans have been temporarily postponed. The company is going to return two floors rented in Landmark business centre. BP-Azerbaijan also decided to give up the whole floor in Port Baku business centre, where the main office of the company is located.
In December 2014 Bob Dudley, BP Group chairman, made a statement that the company is going to reduce its staff in several countries of the world, including Azerbaijan, because of slump of oil prices. BP also recently said that this year it is not going to give raise to its employees.—0-
