BP Decreases by One-tenth the Number of Employees in Azerbaijan
BP plans to increase by 2018 the number of local staff working in its structure in Azerbaijan up to 90%. As the regional President of the oil giant Gordon Birrell said, the company employs more than 2,900 citizens of Azerbaijan, which is more than 85 percent of the qualified staff of BP in the country.
The Guardian, referring to the BP Executive Director Bob Dudley, announced that the transnational group - participant and operator of large-scale oil and gas projects in the Caspian Sea – will spend up to $ 1 billion next year due to forced job cuts. In addition to our country, the reduction will affect BP offices in the US, UK and Germany, though there is small probability that the reduction will affect employees working on the platforms.
Earlier, Azerbaijan and BP signed an agreement on cooperation in training the local workforce in the Gobustan regional training center and a memorandum of understanding on the agreed recruitment and appointments process. --17D-
