Food exports to Iraq declining
Activation of the fighting in Iraq has led to a significant reduction in the volume of food exports from Azerbaijan to the country.
According to the State Customs Committee, for the six months of this year exports to Iraq amounted to $ 202 million., Down compared with the same period in 2013 by 32.8%.
The main supplier of food in Iraq is a group of companies Azersun Holding. According to of the State Statistics Committee, in the first half of this year they exported into this country 1 375.2 tonnes of black tea, about 40 000 tons of vegetable oils, 638.8 tons of canned meat, 14,668 tons of sugar cubes and granulated sugar, 703 tons of paper napkins, etc. Also exported into Iraq are canned vegetables, fruit juices and other food products.
Peak of the export of Azerbaijani goods to Iraq was recorded in 2012 - $ 418.4 million. Last year, export volumes fell by 15.5%. In 2010-2011, the export figures were $ 31.2 million and $ 99 million, respectively. --08B--
