Imports of Cigarettes Declined
In the ten months of this year, imports of tobacco and tobacco products into Azerbaijan decreased in value by 21.3%, according to the State Customs Committee.
Detailed information on imports and exports of tobacco products available for January-September. During this period purchased abroad were 8 billion 832.4 million (441 618 500 packs) of cigarettes, which is 9.3% less than in the comparable period in 2014. Whereas in the first nine months of 2014 importers declared goods worth a total of $ 283 million 258.9 thousand, during the same period in 2015 imports amounted to $ 223.9 million. (-21%).
According to the State Customs Committee, in the first three quarters of this year, the average declared value of a pack of cigarettes (20 pieces) was $ 0.522, while for the same period in 2014 it was $ 0.582.
According to the State Statistics Committee, in the first nine months of this year, the retail price of cigarettes in Azerbaijan increased by 62%. Currently, a pack of cigarettes available in retail at an average price of 1.40 manat.
The share of local production in the consumption of cigarettes in Azerbaijan is about 10%. In the first nine months of this year there were packed 1 billion 459.1 million cigarettes, which is 2.1% less than the same period in 2014. According to statistics, domestic cigarettes are declared without VAT and excise duties at 0.26 manat per pack.
The main exporters of cigarettes into Azerbaijan are Russia - 5 839 980 000 pieces, Ukraine - 2 603 million pieces, Germany - 376 840 000 pieces and Turkey - 12,460,000 pieces. This year has reduced supplies of cigarettes from Ukraine (-469 000 000) and Germany (-190.9 million). -----08B
